I came upon this link in a forum. It's a list of rules for Pensacola Concentration Camp - I mean, Pensacola Christian College.
I'd rather be sodomized with a jackhammer than go to that school. :P
You can't open your dorm window. Women can't have off-campus jobs. Your sibling of the opposite sex cannot visit you on campus. You can't visit a public library. There's a 10 pm curfew. You can't possess glue. Men can't wear pants with pockets on the legs. Women can't wear pants. You can't walk barefoot in the halls. You can't sing in the shower. You can't borrow things. And there's more... much, much more.
Why anyone would choose this school is beyond my comprehension... Jesus wouldn't go to that school.

After reading the book for the first time earlier this year, I finally got to see the movie, and I am now momentarily obsessed. :P I should get over it soon. This isn't the first time, really... I have also taken a newfound interest in British actor Malcolm McDowell, who played Alex to the core. Also, awesome directing by Stanley Kubrick. Great movie in general, and quite funny too... of course, its disturbing moments are noted, but I can't deny the bits in-between that made me laugh.
I have visited numerous forums where A Clockwork Orange was being discussed, and it seems that a lot of people prefer the American version (which completely leaves out the 21st chapter). Well, I beg to differ. I find chapter 21 to be a rather fitting ending.
------
On a side note, I watched Of Mice and Men today. It now has a spot on my list of ultimate tearjerker films.
I saw Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix yesterday... Perhaps in my next entry I'll write more about it. I'm just too lazy right now. I'm still a bit disappointed that I might not get to see Transformers on the big screen. On the day I went to see it, the tickets were sold out, so I ended up watching Die Hard 4.0 instead (which actually wasn't bad. I mean, it had my adrenaline pumping - which is good enough.)

This may sound weird, but I can't help but find Sacha Baron Cohen attractive... in a weird way. Especially that smooth voice and accent. Oh, what wonders a British accent can do... Not to mention he's tall - major plus. But there's something else about him that I can't quite put my finger on...
Seriously, I find it hard to believe that this is the man who played Borat and Ali G...
I watched a part of the MTV Movie Awards, and I saw him, along with Will Farrel, win the award for Best Kiss (Talladega Nights)... I seriously cracked up when I saw them making out on stage, rolling on the ground and all that...

I watched Alpha Dog today, with my aunt. I wish I had watched it alone. I couldn't turn the volume up because of all the expletives. And I felt a bit uncomfortable watching it with older family members - considering the content. But overall, I really liked it, despite my aunt's criticisms - as well as my mother's complaining (mainly because of the swearing). Seriously, if I tried to count the number of times the word "fuck" was uttered, I would lose track within the first half-hour. The acting was more than impressive - including Justin Timberlake's performance, I must say. Ben Foster was amazing, as was Anton Yelchin. Good movie.

( Semi-review: SPOILER ALERT!!! )
I should be studying... hm... Spanish exam tomorrow. I haven't even reached half of the Spanish novel I'm trying to read over. Something tells me I should prepare for a massive, crushing headache tonight.
Something tells me I should just fuck it and get very, very drunk. Wait... there's no alcohol. And I'm not that much of a rebel - I do want to pass my CAPE Exams, and I don't think I'll be able to do so with a massive hangover.

It's so depressing.
I was flipping through the channels today and I came across a movie called "Bastard out of Carolina" on Lifetime, starring Jennifer Jason Leigh and Jena Malone. In short, it's a well-made but disturbing movie about a girl who is abused by her stepfather. That movie made me so angryyyyy... it also made me feel incredibly sad and distressed. (Big surprise. It is Lifetime anyway...)
Too much Lifetime is not good for me. :P I know that because there actually was one day when I watched a series of Lifetime movies all day, because I was that bored. I dunno, maybe I was feeling a bit masochistic as well. :P At the end of the day, I was in the darkest of moods.

Salvage - I really liked this film. It was made on a very low budget, but that only made it more chilling. Basically, the story revolves around a girl named Claire who continuously relives the experience of her murder by a psychopath. There's a very nice twist at the end...
Kansen (Infection) - Japanese horror flick about a mysterious organ-dissolving infection the spreads amongst a group of doctors and nurses in a run-down hospital. I found myself really liking the atmosphere here. The twist at the end was a bit confusing for me, though. But there's a lot more to this movie than what's in the synopsis.
Clay Pigeons - I know Joaquin Phoenix is pretty sexy, but damn Vince Vaughn! He was pretty fine back in '98...

The Tudors is a pretty good show, but it still doesn't come close to ROME. I can't help but feel pissed off by some of the women on the show - what a bunch of groupies... letting the King and his friends use and abuse them like that. But I guess in some cases they had no choice, since King Henry VIII doesn't take no for an answer.
SPOILER!!!
The show has included a few homoerotic moments between Compton (a member of King Henry's boyband :P) and meek and gentle composer Thomas Tallis. (5 episodes into the season and still no one has given that guy a comb...)

I woke up this morning quite shaken from a rather strange yet disturbing dream... it's more of a nightmare, actually. I would have written about this earlier, but I had a little excursion to go to... and unfortunately, I can no longer remember most of it. What I do remember is a malignant spirit of some sort stabbing me repeatedly in the back with what I recall to be a pair of scissors. (I know... wtf...) It did hurt, and I was screaming - though both the pain and the screams were most likely unrealistic... I woke up before the thing got to kill me.
I remember being handed over to the ghost by some guy who was supposed to be my father in the dream (but does not in any way resemble my real life Dad.) My brother (another unfamiliar face) was given up too, but I didn't witness any violence being inflicted upon him. It was just me. I don't remember his reason for relinquishing us, but I'm pretty sure that it was something stupid.

Okay... this book has really left an impression on me... Perhaps it's because coincidentally the climatic and disturbing parts of the book were read late after midnight. Seriously, Pet Sematary has a much greater impact on you when you read it at night.
I never thought I would be that creeped out by a book. It had me thinking a lot about death too. For that brief moment, it made me more wary, and perhaps more afraid of death than usual - like those Final Destination movies. I went to bed late last night, but I couldn't sleep because I kept picturing myself in Dr. Louis Creed's position, and Rachel Creed's and Jud's and Ellie's positions. I kept picturing Victor Pascow and Zelda and Gage... kept envisioning myself walking alone through the path leading to the burial grounds late at night.
Then I fell asleep, and thankfully none of my dreams were linked to that story. They were still bad dreams, though - any dream occurring during your damn vacation that involves school is a bad dream. :P There's a line that sticks out the most from this book: "sometimes dead is better." Within the context of the novel, this is proven to be true in ways that are definitely horrific and disturbing.
That said, I don't regret buying the book at all.

SPOILER ALERT (THAT IS, IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY HEARD THIS AND DON'T WANT TO...):
I was surprised to find myself crying towards the end of "Click". Then I felt completely stupid for crying when the movie's happy ending came around. Whew... For a minute, I really did think that the movie was going to end on a depressing note. I guess I'm glad that it didn't.
So far, the movies that made a cry are:
Forrest Gump A.I. The Notebook Titanic Memoirs of a Geisha (Not sure if I actually cried... but I think I remember tearing up a bit.) Lords of Dogtown Brokeback Mountain A Walk To Remember Beaches Click Paulie (I was much younger then, of course. Those animal movies are always so sad, anyway. :P) Charlotte's Web (The animated movie...)
Somehow I feel like I've done this before... Ah well, I'm too lazy to check. There are many other movies that I've seen that were very sad/moving, but didn't quite make me cry.
--
I am currently relying on Showtime's The Tudors to fill that void left in me ever since HBO pulled the plug on ROME. It seems good so far. I think JRM makes a pretty good King... not to mention he's undoubtedly sexy. However, he's not my favourite.

Henry Cavill is... He plays Charles Brandon, and he is fiiiiiiiine.
--
I finished James Ellroy's "The Black Dahlia"... now I'm onto Stephen King's "Pet Sematary". (Geez, finally... I was wondering why the hell that book was so hard to find!) "The Black Dahlia" was very well-written. I found myself really liking it. The 1940's slang was a bit hard to follow at times, but no matter.

Yaaaay! I called him Duke. He's cute, white and clumsy, and he likes to scamper about and play with my feet.
The cats don't like him very much... big surprise. Bubbles has taken to leaping on top of tables and counters to avoid him, while Tiger just plays it cool - taking every opportunity to just sit and glare at him. Not that Duke gives a shit anyway. *laughs*

GASP
Is that chest hair I see? *blinks* Harry's been working out...
This, apparently is what he looks like in the play, "Equus". Now I'm not sure, but there seems to be an apparent difference between the guy in these pictures and the guy in those Harry Potter films. Go Daniel!
Still, this is so weird. I can still remember him from "The Sorcerer's Stone"...

Spoiler Alert...
I saw The Libertine recently. While I really liked it, there was something about it that disturbed me. No, it wasn't the dismal, dirty and grimy atmosphere. It wasn't the ending either, which was quite moving, in my opinion. It was the latter part of the film, in which Johnny Depp looked surprisingly hideous! I must say, though he looked good with no eyes in 'Once Upon A Time In Mexico', I'm afraid that even our dear Johnny Depp could not pull off the syphilitic symptoms exhibited by his character (John Wilmot, Second Earl of Rochester).
I mean, seriously... it was pretty painful to watch. *laughs*
